Hi! I'm Lauren and I'm from Colorado Springs, CO. I am currently completing my final year of my undergraduate degree in Art Education at Colorado State University. I have a huge passion for art, and spend most of my free time painting and practicing photography.
I come from a long line of teachers and have always known that I wanted to be one. Being raised by teachers has led me to understand that teaching is much more than providing facts and concepts to students. It is about encouragement and working to the best of your ability to help students grow as learners and people. I am very excited to bring my desire to teach and my passion for art into the classroom at Polaris this semester! |

I'm proud to be a Colorado native, raised in Littleton. I completed my K-12 education at Front Range Christian School, and I am currently completing my undergraduate degree, in art education, at Colorado State University. I will be graduating May of 2017 with a K-12 certificate.
I've come to understand that teaching isn't about tests and facts, that will soon be forgotten, rather it's about an encouragement to grow and learn as a person. Within this search for growth I believe one thing to be extremely true, " In order to be a human being, you must be a human doing." If we are humans who are doing we will also be humans who are growing. Growth often comes from hands on experiences. I'm thankful to have a passion for art because it encourages you to do, make, and create. I also have a passion for the outdoors. In my free time I love to hike, rock climb, and backpack. My love for Gods' creation is evident throughout much of my personal work as an artist, and I'm constantly inspired by the people and nature that surround me. |

I was born and raised in Colorado and received my first degree in Civil Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. From there, I hired on with Hensel Phelps, working in construction management. For the next six years, I traveled around the US, lived on both coasts, met my wife, and pursued my outdoor passions. Eventually though, I realized I wasn't passionate about what I was doing. I discovered my passion for teaching those around me and decided to combine that with my interest in art.
I believe every student holds a wealth of potential. As a teacher, I hope to challenge students and empower them to discover their own potential. My goal, through art, is to help create lifetime learners that pursue their passions. My own passions are focused around getting out into the mountains as much as possible. Whether it be climbing, mountain biking, split boarding, etc., I love to be active and push myself physically and mentally. I hope to share this passion with my students and illustrate how much can be learned about the world and one’s self when we are immersed in nature. |
